My brother-in-law, who happens to be a biology teacher, is also an accomplished writer of haiku. In fact, he publishes many of them on his blog. I especially like his "Morning Haiku."
I breathe – quietly
in the dense morning
afraid to scare it away.
So while my students were journaling today, I thought I'd try one.
Microcosm
a single raindrop
rests globe-like on my windshield.
I see Africa.
The verdict? I'll leave haiku to the professionals.
